Hello everyone! I'm back!
For Lessons 4 and 5 the class will break into groups, with each group having the opportunity to create their own podcast. I suggest allowing the students fee choice as to the topic of their podcasts, with the only requirement being that their choice be related to sports and leisure activities. You could, of course, provide some sample topics if desired. For example: choosing a sport and explaining how to play it, the equipment which would be required, associated fun facts, etcetera; or, explaining in a group discussion their favourite activities to do during the weekends.
At the beginning of lesson number 4, start by introducing the podcast as a cooperative project to the students. Organise the classroom into groups of 3 or 4 students and set the leadership roles that each child will have within their group.
Each group will see at least one student assigned one of the following leadership roles:
1. The Researcher and Writer.
2. The Vocal Talent.
3. The Tech Worker.
The intention of assigning specific leadership roles to individual students is to allow those students to be able to experience a degree of responsibility and practise exercising an equal degree of leadership within a group setting. Every student will be expected to be actively involved in all of the group's tasks, but they will be led in each task by the respective leader. They will all have to work together to achieve the objectives of the project.
The students will start by researching and writing the script. For this, every group will have a Chromebook which they will be able to use to research and access a Dictionary.
It is important to note that this lesson, as with lesson 5 (stay tuned for it shortly!), may require more than one class period to complete. As class size, technical challenges, and many other individual distractions can impact the time required, it will be up to you to decide how long you feel your class will require to properly complete this lesson as suggested.
